Six Things You Should Think About Before Newborn Shopping
Before you go shopping for a baby, there are 6 things you should consider:
1. The sex of the baby youre shopping for
2. The items that the baby needs
3. The size of babys clothing or shoes etc.
4. The babys age
5. The babys milestones
6. The babys preferences in todays society, many women find out what the sex of their baby is before its born.
This makes it a lot easier if youre shopping for a unique baby gifts for someones baby shower.
So, before going shopping consider whether the baby is a boy or a girl that way you leave out some of the guesswork. I often shop for my daughter and find that most of the things that I buy her are things she needs. When shopping for a baby, particularly if purchasing a gift for someone else’s baby try to consider what the babys needs may be. Perhaps the baby needs diapers, wipes, bottles, or other essentials, these are things that are always appreciated as you can never really have too many – especially when it comes to the diapers and wipes! My daughters first birthday is coming up and I have been getting many requests from people about what size clothing to buy her.
I appreciate them asking because I have definitely received outfits in the past that were too small because people didnt understand how to read the size or just assumed that because she was 9 months old meant she wore a size 9 months, which is not necessarily the case. For example, when you buy something that says size 9 months, its usually size 6 to 9 months, not 9 months to 12 months. So, at 9 months when someone bought her a 9 month outfit, she was actually outgrowing it and could only wear it a handful of times before it no longer fit. So, when shopping for a baby, keep in mind what size clothing or shoes the baby wears and what age the baby is.
Often when shopping for toys, consider what milestones baby has reached – is he or she sitting up, crawling, standing and walking? That way you wont buy them something that they can walk around with (like a push walker) when they haven’t yet begun to stand yet. Keep in mind that every baby is an individual and does have their own preferences, make an informed decision when choosing something for a baby, whether its toys or clothes, some babies dont like hats – I know my daughter is one of those for sure, so I didnt have much of a need for them and never bought them after the first initial purchase of one. Some babies like toys that make noise, toys that have texture, and some babies prefer toys that are a little simpler, like a baby doll or old fashioned wooden blocks.
Hopefully, these suggestions will help you to pick out the baby shower gift that is useful, appropriate, and sure to be appreciated by babies and moms and dads alike! Remember to be thoughtful when shopping for baby and have fun!
